Webtide Joins the Open Source Eclipse Foundation to Advance Jetty Integration and Development of Pluggable Architectures

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Webtide, the main developers of leading open source Java web container Jetty, today announced that it is joining the Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal development platform.

Eclipse Europa is the annual release of Eclipse projects. It is a coordinated release of different Eclipse project teams which for this year’s release included 21 distinct projects. By releasing all projects at the same time, Eclipse ensures that uncertainty over version compatibility is minimized and it is easier for developers to incorporate multiple projects into their environment.

Webtide specializes in serving scalable Web 2.0 applications using Java, Ajax, and Comet, and is the leading developer of the Jetty web server.

The Eclipse platform is one of the most widely used for development of Jetty-based projects. Webtide will work initially to improve the productivity of project development, testing and deployment to Jetty instances. Beyond that, Webtide will work to foster the integration of implementations of pluggable architectures such as OSGi (formerly known as the Open Services Gateway initiative) with Jetty through the Eclipse platform.
