Glowfoto Launches Geotagging Feature, Allows Users to Geographically Tag and Map Photos

July 5, 2007; 03:43 AM
Glowdot Productions, Inc. announces the launch of the newest feature on photo sharing site Glowfoto -- Geotagging.

Geotagging allows users to "tag" their photos with geographical coordinates, pinning their photos to a world map. Photos can be tagged by entering in textual descriptions of the location, or by manually locating a position on a street-view or satellite-view map. Glowfoto uses Google's popular Google Maps API to allow this functionality.

"Our main priorities are functionality and usability," said Glowfoto founder and lead developer Rick Strom. "Our new geotagging system satisfies both of those goals -- it adds a powerful new feature to our already rich feature set, but it's easy enough and comfortable enough to use that anyone can jump right in and start geotagging."

In addition to being able to view geotagged photos at glowfoto.com, geotagged photo sets are also viewable in Google's groundbreaking Google Earth application.

Glowfoto combines photo sharing, image hosting and social networking into one web application, allowing users a wealth of options for organizing and sharing their photos. Glowfoto is one of the fastest growing websites on the Internet, with over 90,000 registered users and a worldwide audience.
