Five Across, Inc. today announced the availability of the Five Across Connect 1.8 Community Builder platform, the latest version of its turnkey solution for building social networks and online communities. Connect 1.8 Community Builder addresses the critical needs of high-traffic websites looking to promote and monetize user-generated content, including video, photos and audio. Based on enterprise-class technology, Connect 1.8 Community Builder is purpose-built for large scale commercial usage and integrates with a company's existing web infrastructure, including customer registration systems and databases, without compromising site performance.

With Connect 1.8 Community Builder, users can add their own content, creating a richer, more interesting online experience. Interactive features and functionality include:

*Ability to upload video and audio files
*Syndication of any type of content using RSS
*Real-time edits directly through the browser with AJAX tools
*Dynamic page loading for immediate access to real-time content
*Automatic list generation based on recent edits, rankings and page views
*Rating system for use with all content types including user profiles
*Optional integration of ads on user pages using dynamic ad inclusion
*Categorization of profiles and other content for easy search through
     keyword linking and tagging

"We're excited to be announcing the release of the Five Across Connect 1.8 Community Builder platform to address the feature and functionality requests of our large-scale media, sports and consumer products customers," said Michael O'Donnell, president and CEO of Five Across. "This major release emphasizes customer scalability, registration and database integration along with rich media delivery. Most importantly, it strengthens our leadership position with companies looking to add social networking and online community functionality to an existing large-scale online presence."

Increased member activity helps consumer product and services companies better understand the needs and preferences of their online communities. These companies can then serve additional branded content, advertising, and other services in order to meet the customer participation and monetization goals of their websites.

Enhanced site administration capabilities allow companies to marry user-generated content with their own branded content in a way that is acceptable to their community. Site management features include:

*Integration with back end infrastructure (Oracle, MySQL, SSO, etc.)
leverages existing investment and speeds deployment
*Control center allows site administrators to set-up, change and manage
all site functions through a web-based interface
*Content moderation tools, including language filters and queue
delegation, offer choices of moderation levels to maintain appropriate
     content on community pages
*Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) give users several options for creating
their own sites using flexible design templates -- while keeping the
     administrative burden low
*Reporting tools monitor site traffic and generate user reports and
demographic data so you have the latest information available all the
     time
