JBoss announced that RLPTechnologies has been selected as the JBoss Innovator of the Year for its Enterprise Information Factory, a service-oriented architecture (SOA) platform built on the JBoss Enterprise Middleware Suite (JEMS). The winner was revealed in June at the JBoss Innovation Awards ceremony during JBoss World 2006 in Las Vegas. During the conference, attendees voted for one of the 11 winners across categories such as Return on Investment, Migration and Service-Oriented Architecture.

“The JEMS platform has allowed us to achieve extraordinary results in streamlining our processes and improving overall performance,” said Joe LaFeir, vice president of product development at RLPTechnologies. “It is an honor to be recognized for our strong commitment to delivering unique solutions through the use of JBoss technology.”

RLPTechnologies is a wholly-owned research and development subsidiary company of R. L. Polk & Co., a provider of automotive information and marketing solutions. The company was selected as the JBoss Innovator of the Year for its use of the JBoss Application Server and Hibernate as the foundation for their SOA-based platform for Enterprise Information Management. The deployment of the solution at R. L. Polk was designed to revolutionize how data is collected, enhanced and compiled to create a single view of their enterprise data assets. Driven by the goals of enriching the timeliness, accuracy and quality of R. L. Polk’s data for the automotive industry, the solution has enabled Polk to increase data-file processing performance by 70 percent, while increasing scalability by 400 percent. As the leading compiler of product and consumer data for the automotive industry, R. L. Polk developed this innovative software application to strengthen their competitive advantage. Having done so, they are now making it commercially available to companies looking to manage their own enterprise data assets.

“RLPTechnologies has done exceptional work for the automotive industry, and we are impressed by the creativeness with which it has set out to overcome technical challenges to deliver business value,” said Marc Fleury, senior vice president and general manager of the JBoss division of Red Hat. “The company’s use of JEMS and dedication to providing innovative solutions exemplifies the creativity and commitment to technical excellence of our many customers.”

JBoss, which was recently acquired by open source giant Red Hat, produces a range of software for Java and AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) development.
