Finally, for traders who prefer to model and create their own individual studies or to perform additional ad hoc analyses, eSignal 8.0 improves on its eSignal Formula Script (EFS) with major modifications designed to significantly reduce the amount of time needed to code.

eSignal Formula Script 2 (EFS2)

eSignal 8.0 contains a major update to EFS, eSignal's proprietary software for creating customized studies. Known now as EFS2, this simple JavaScript language allows traders to develop custom studies, access a series of customizable sample formulas, and test their trading strategies over days, weeks or years of historical data. Back testing is now simplified with EFS2 and the GUI enhancements because the tabs and graphs are much easier to navigate, and designed to get the most out of this valuable data.

eSignal 8.0 with EFS2 allows increased use of built-in studies, permits more concise coding, improves the ability to create studies based on different intervals and/or symbols, and adds support for building new studies. EFS2 is more accessible to traders of all levels and dramatically reduces the time necessary to develop additional customized studies. In one example, a stochastic study that previously took 85 lines of code to develop was completed with just 12 lines of code using EFS2.

"eSignal continues to impress me by creating features that provide heightened visibility into very complicated markets that can be both risky and rewarding," said Keth Comollo, eSignal 8.0 beta user. "eSignal also makes it possible for me to create my own specialized tools as necessary. With this latest release, eSignal enables me to reach far beyond the basic software to define studies and views that give me insight into markets in just the way I want."

Add-On Studies

In addition to four new indicators, eSignal 8.0 includes three new add-on studies:

-- The eMini-Master POLR Series

-- WaveTracker

-- Price Gauge

eSignal 8.0 also features enhanced Hamzei Analytics "HotSpots", a special application of the Support, Pivot and Resistance Levels, plus Intraday Volume Break Out (IVBO), Directional Volatility (DV), and Central Intelligence Difference (CI Diff) Indicators, as well as the EZ2Trade Charting Collection with EZ2 Pivots and EZ2 Trailing Stops. Each indicator brings investors an additional method for assessing and managing risk and for recognizing patterns within the equities or futures markets.

Also new to eSignal 8.0 is Teresa Lo's PowerTools, featuring new tools to back test and fine tune any trading symbol and time frame. The position-sizing tool is designed to help traders plan a transaction with the appropriate number of shares and reduce size over time to maintain their specified equity risk.

Futures Analytics

eSignal 8.0 includes several enhancements to futures analytics, including continuous contracts and spreads. The continuous contracts feature, available for U.S. and international contracts, uses an intuitive symbol format designed to make it easier to follow the front and forward months by eliminating the need to change symbols between each contract's expiration. A newly enhanced spread engine allows users the flexibility to control the formatting of the data when creating user-defined spreads. Spread symbols, on the other hand, can now be used in combination with other symbols using the plus, minus, multiply or divide operators. These spread symbols can be entered into the quote and chart window for analysis.

Other features for futures traders include enhancements to the basic point and figure charts, improvements to eSignal's market profile, and a new, fully customizable Quoteboard. With the new Quoteboard, users can bring up a full list of fields available simply by right clicking on any cell. Fields can be arranged in any order and cells can grow or shrink automatically based on the number of fields chosen.
