The Wall Street Journal Online has added a new feature to its site.  Users can now do a quick search on any word or phrase on the site without leaving the page.  The new feature uses AJAX technology, and represents the second similar improvement on WSJ.com in less than a month.

The AJAX search works when users highlight (or define) the word or phrase, and right-click it with their mouse. WSJ.com search results appear instantly in a blue box next to where the user clicked.  The search results are hidden when the "x" at the top right of the results box is clicked.

The new feature can be turned  off by clicking on the link that says "turn this feature off temporarily." In order to restore it, users need to open a new browser window and it will become available again.

The in-page search does not work in Opera.
