Snap.com’s Snap Shots Service Adds Support for Photobucket-Hosted Images

May 8, 2007; 07:16 AM
Perfect Market Technologies, Inc., operator of Snap.com, today announced that PhotoShot™ – part of the recently introduced Snap Shots™ service – has been expanded to support images hosted on Photobucket, the world’s largest personal media site. PhotoShot allows users of enabled sites to view entire Photobucket albums without having to leave the original sites. Additional support for Photobucket-hosted videos and slideshows will be added in the coming weeks. PhotoShot, as with all Snap Shots, is completely free and can be implemented with little effort using a single line of Javascript code that can be obtained from http://shots.snap.com.

“We are committed to offering our users new tools for self-expression by expanding options for uploading, editing and sharing their personal media with the world,” said Alex Welch, CEO of Photobucket. “Snap.com’s PhotoShot gives our users new ways to display their albums in ways that are relevant and in context with the rest of their web page or blog.”

”We’re excited to extend PhotoShot to support the more than 41 million users of Photobucket,” said Tom McGovern, CEO of Perfect Market. “We’ve received a tremendous response to the Snap Shots service since its launch last month, and the added PhotoShot functionality is just the beginning. We look forward to continually expanding and improving current and future Snap Shots.”

PhotoShot is part of the Snap Shots service, which is a new, open platform that intelligently delivers related content such as photo albums, stock quotes, streaming audio and video, product information and more, directly to users as they browse an enabled web page – all in a format that is useful and engaging to users. Snap Shots builds upon the rapid success of Snap Preview Anywhere (now renamed PreviewShot™), which, in the six months since its debut, has been implemented on more than 1 million web sites and blogs, generating more than 10 million shots a day or roughly 115 shots per second.

Snap Shots are a radical departure from the traditional Internet model of forcing users to browse web site after web site, manually trying to find what they’re looking for. Users trigger Snap Shots whenever they mouse over a link in an enhanced web site. Upon triggering, a small window appears providing the user with additional content relevant to the subject of the link or the enabled text. Snap Shots are interactive and put users in control of their surfing, making for a much richer user experience.
