Nexaweb Announces OpenAjax Hub Support

Nexaweb awarded OpenAjax interoperability certificate, demonstrating dedication to developing and expanding Ajax technologies into the enterprise

April 4, 2007; 01:07 AM

Burlington, MA, April 2, 2007 -- Nexaweb Technologies, Inc., provider of the leading standards-based platform for building and deploying Enterprise Web 2.0 (EW2.0) applications, today announced its support for the OpenAjax Hub, a set of criteria that will ensure the development of an industry standard of Ajax technologies, products and applications.  In addition, Nexaweb received an OpenAjax interoperability certificate, representing its commitment to defining and achieving industry support for OpenAjax conformance.

The OpenAjax Alliance, an organization dedicated to the successful adoption of open and interoperable Ajax-based Web technologies, has put forth the OpenAjax Hub.  Designed to standardize the proliferation of Ajax industry-wide — enabling IT professionals and developers to integrate Ajax technologies from multiple suppliers without vendor lock-in and high costs — the OpenAjax Hub is a small set of JavaScript technologies that address critical Ajax runtime interoperability requirements.

One of the first organizations to join the OpenAjax Alliance, a member of the Steering Committee, and a key contributor to various open source projects, Nexaweb provides support for the OpenAjax Hub through its Universal Client Framework (UCF) — the industry’s first zero-install, universal client framework that gives application developers the flexibility to use Ajax or Java technology to deploy enterprise-class, composite business applications over the Web.  The OpenAjax interoperability certificate, further demonstrates Nexaweb’s dedication to easing the pain points of enterprise developers by offering best practices for building and deploying Ajax applications.

“Developers must remain focused on application requirements to ensure proper selection of the best technology for a given project, be it Ajax or Java,” said Coach Wei, CTO at Nexaweb, “Support for the OpenAjax Hub and our participation in the OpenAjax Alliance further underscores our commitment to the development of an industry standard that meets the needs of developers to successfully deploy mission-critical Enterprise Web 2.0 applications.”

Nexaweb’s support of the OpenAjax Hub provides the following benefits to enterprise developers:

  • Seamless integration of multiple Ajax products and technologies within the same Web application, particularly with applications that use mashup techniques
  • Greater certainty about product choices, where OpenAjax conformance plays a similar role in the Ajax community as the Good Housekeeping Seal does with consumer products
  • Lower training costs, lower development costs, and faster delivery of Web 2.0 innovations due to industry adoption of common approaches that build from OpenAjax standards
  • Interchangeability of OpenAjax conformant products, such that customers can choose among multiple vendors

“The OpenAjax Alliance has achieved many goals in the past year and seen a significant increase in its membership,” said Jon Ferraiolo, acting director of the alliance and a Web architect in the emerging technologies group at IBM.  “Early commitment from members like Nexaweb helps the OpenAjax Alliance to achieve its mission of wide spread adoption of Ajax technology.”
