New Innotas PPM Starter Kits Address Three Biggest Challenges of Managing IT Projects

March 6, 2007; 03:50 AM
Innotas, the provider of the only on-demand Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software solution designed specifically for IT departments, today announced three new PPM Starter Kits™, that help customers get Project Portfolio Management software implementations up and running in days, instead of weeks or months. Each Starter Kit addresses a key PPM area, or PPM Domain™ (www.innotas.com/PPMDomains), in managing IT project portfolios: managing supply and demand, prioritizing projects, and delivering projects and applications. Customers can begin with the Starter Kit that matches their biggest IT challenge, quickly and easily implement a project management software solution to begin resolving that challenge, and then expand their PPM implementation to the next Domain.

PPM Starter Kits are a combination of Innotas' award-winning project management software and industry-vetted best practices -- pre-defined application set-up and processes that help customers start their implementation by focusing on only the PPM processes required to address that particular Domain. This step-at-a-time approach makes implementation easier, and makes it easier for users to learn and adopt Project Portfolio Management. Additionally, PPM Starter Kits include pre-packaged dashboards, pre-populated configurations, and reports, so customers don't have to create these from scratch. As a result, customers can implement Innotas' software in days, instead of the months it takes to implement installed solutions.

“Most PPM solutions today are over-engineered, too complex for organizations to implement, and too difficult for people to use,” said Keith Carlson, CEO of Innotas. “Our solution has always made PPM simple without being simplistic. Now, with the introduction of PPM Starter Kits, we're providing customers with pre-loaded starter kit content, which gives them very clear steps and processes to get their PPM implementations up and running even more quickly and easily. Our PPM Starter Kits help customers start where they need to, bring the organization along, and then later move on to solve their next IT challenge using the next Starter Kit.”

Innotas customers are validating this Project Portfolio Management approach. TriNet, a provider of benefits, payroll and human resources services for small to mid-sized companies, wanted to first improve the way it manages supply and demand, an issue that often confronts fast-growing businesses. “We have hundreds of IT requests coming in, and we have limited resources to deal with those requests. We needed a solution that could catalog all of the requests and compare them to the resources we have, and it had to be up and running quickly,” said CIO Steve Carlson, TriNet. “Innotas is helping us prioritize our projects, and it will help us deliver these projects more effectively.”

Because its software is on-demand, Innotas can deliver frequent updates to customers, unlike on-premise PPM software companies. Recent Innotas project management software releases have provided customers with a new dashboard and more simplified navigation, as well as new project and task views based on Ajax technology.

During a free on-demand webinar, “Three Easy Steps to Project Portfolio Management Success,” (www.innotas.com/3easysteps), featuring Gartner analyst Dan Stang, Innotas customers will discuss how they are using Innotas' on-demand PPM solution to effectively manage their IT project portfolios.
