Xignite Launches New Website, Raises the Bar on Open Web Service Distribution

March 1, 2007; 03:15 AM
Xignite, the leading pure-play provider of financial web services for mission-critical corporate applications, today announced the launch of its new website at www.xignite.com, making the purchase of web services as easy as buying a book on Amazon.

Xignites comprehensive new shopping cart enables clients to buy multiple services, take advantage of discounts and explore different support options -- all without talking to a company representative. The website uses Microsoft AJAX technology to provide clients with instant update on total purchase amounts and payment terms as they shop. With the shopping cart, clients only need to check out once for multiple purchases, making it more convenient to shop on the website.

The new site expands other areas popular with developers: extended FAQs for all services, complete online API documentation, development tips, and troubleshooting information.

Market data has long been complicated to purchase, dominated by frustrating sales cycle, opaque pricing, and truckloads of obscure documentation, said Stephane Dubois, CEO, Xignite. That approach does not work well in the new, unforgiving world of application development. Clients have tight deadlines -- they need to turn around their assignments on a dime. And as corporate America builds more and more SOBA over the next few years, the need for financial information that is easy to buy and integrate will only increase.

We are addressing these needs today, with a new website that makes purchasing market data hassle-free, Dubois said. No other site has made the process this easy. Clients not only need solutions that are as simple to integrate as our web services, they need to be able to buy and upgrade products -- and get their questions answered -- quickly. Driven by our new website, we combine the ultimate integration power that web services deliver with a unique, open, online distribution approach that takes the pain out of what used to be a challenging experience.

Building on a Secure Foundation

The new site builds on a platform that is already rich in functionality and dedicated to ease of use. The website retains Xignites unique DynamicSnippets feature, which enables developers to instantly get sample code for any of the 500 web service operations on the website, in a variety of languages: Vb.Net, C#, Axis under Java, NuSoap under PHP, SoapLite under Perl, XSLT, and more. This capability is a boon to IT professionals, who can simply cut and paste the code in a given app, rather than attempting to transpose generic sample code to whatever they may be working on.

The Xignite website continues to offer free, downloadable sample Excel spreadsheets, which permit clients to pull information from every web service into Excel at the click of a button. Thanks to the joint Xignite/WebFocus solution from Information Builders, site visitors are able to visualize, sort, graph and otherwise manipulate the results from web service requests. Last fall, Information Builders and Xignite partnered for the first-ever integration of on-demand financial web services with enterprise reporting.

Xignite was one of the first firms to deliver open web services when the company launched in 2003. The original site was highly successful with developers, who lauded its ease of use and "everything at your fingertips approach.
