November 24, 2006; 06:56 AM Glide Magazine, the premiere online resource devoted to covering
today's most innovative artists, announced the latest launch of its
Internet platform, GlideMagazine.com. Glide worked with Pixel Bridge to
plan, design, and develop the site.
The new platform relies on eye-catching visuals, an intuitive
interface, easy-to-access content, and the latest interactive tools and
techniques to engage visitors and keep them coming back regularly.
First launched in 2002, the publication constantly refines and augments
the site to meet reader and advertiser requirements. Eric Ward,
co-founder of Glide, explains, "Our readers are savvy Web users and
have high expectations about the sites they visit. I'm confident that
the latest incarnation of Glide will satisfy their needs and further
expand the Glide user experience."
The new site offers a variety of new features and functionality:
* A comprehensive media center that houses a library of audio and video downloads and unique photo galleries
* A podcasting center dubbed Smell The Glove
* The uniquely branded Hidden Track blog
* User-generated content and comments
* All of the popular carryovers from the older version of the site,
including news, original features, music and movie reviews, search,
email updates, and discussion boards
Built on an open source platform using PHP and MySQL, the site is
supported by a custom content management system that allows editors to
add fresh material to the site through a WYSIWYG interface. The media
center is built with Flash and uses XML to allow site managers to
easily manage its content.
The new site was also built to accommodate an increasing user base and
traffic. Currently with 30,000+ registered users and more than 100,000
unique visitors each month, Glide has experienced consistent growth in
recent years and expects the new site to help the e-zine reach the
100,000 registered users mark soon.
"Glide has a compelling value proposition for its readers and is a
force in its niche market," says Scott Stephens, President at Pixel
Bridge. "The new website will certainly reinforce its value among
readership and form a sturdy foundation for Glide's continued
evolution."
