September 1, 2006; 02:38 AM ANT plc, the market leading provider of software and solutions
for the IPTV, hybrid TV and consumer electronics industries, today
announced that the company will attend IBC 2006, taking place 8-12 September in Amsterdam.
ANT will join its Interactive TV and consumer electronics partners to
showcase and demonstrate its TV media management and user interface
solutions targeted at a wide range of consumer electronics devices and
TV markets.
ANT's open standards-based solution and capabilities will be shown via integrated demos with the following partners at IBC 2006:
* Amino Communications (Stand 5.238) — Showing STB demos using ANT Fresco
* Kaon Media (Stand 1.518) — Showing STB demos using ANT Galio
* Kasenna (Stand 5.110) — Showing their middleware solution integrated with ANT Galio, and Sigma Designs media processor.
* Nagravision/Quative Limited (Stand 1.469) — Showing ANT Galio on a Wegener STB

As part of the demonstrations, ANT will showcase its Galio™
browser, which is licensed by many of the world's leading set-top box
(STB) and consumer electronics companies. Galio is a powerful embedded
application platform used to support consumer management of TV and
related entertainment media. Delivering rapid time–to–market, Galio is
designed for use across the whole range of home media client devices,
from STBs and PVRs to digital TVs and portable media players.
ANT Galio enables new service development and implementation with
its advanced W3C standards support and display capabilities using HTML,
JavaScript and CSS. Being completely agnostic as to media delivery
technology, Galio is able to form the basis of powerful solutions in
Cable, IPTV and hybrid TV environments.
Additionally, ANT will have demonstrations of its PurePlay™
digital media manager. PurePlay enables consumers to enjoy a wide range
of personal and purchased photos, music and video content on personal
media players, TVs, PVRs, STBs and dedicated digital media adapters.
Consumer electronics manufacturers often have many different UI
designs and underlying UI support mechanisms for their range of
products (and all developed by different teams), ANT PurePlay digital
media manager simplifies product development by separating UI design
from product control logic. This gives OEMs a single software
architecture that reduces product development cost. The appeal of this
UI development strategy is taking ANT into new markets that want to
benefit from the UI development capabilities of both PurePlay and
Galio. As an example of this new activity, Galio was recently selected
by Xerox to provide the user interface support for photocopiers.
