JackBe Supports the OpenAjax Initiative; Company to Provide ''Sneak Peek'' Demonstration of Eclipse Support at JavaOne

May 16, 2006; 02:48 AM
JackBe announced at the JavaOne conference support for two key industry initiatives that strengthen its position as a leading provider of enterprise-class AJAX solutions.

The company said its AJAX development solution, the JackBe NQ Suite (TM), will support the Eclipse development platform, enabling developers using JackBe's suite to work within their environment of choice. At its booth, JackBe will give JavaOne attendees a sneak peek of how its development suite works within the Eclipse environment.

An advocate for the advancement of enterprise Web technologies, JackBe also announced it has joined the OpenAjax Initiative to help further the group's mission to simplify the browsing experience, and make it easier for users to shop, work, plan, correspond and navigate online.

"The Eclipse foundation and the OpenAjax initiative are exciting examples of vendors working together to improve the Web, and we're looking forward to being part of these two efforts," said Luis Derechin, chief executive officer of JackBe. "Our commitment to these important industry standards enables JackBe to continue to focus on the larger business value AJAX provides. In addition, by combining our AJAX expertise with SOA technologies to deliver complete enterprise solutions, we will further help enterprises worldwide advance the online experience to gain real business benefits."

Last month, JackBe bolstered its technology team with the addition of three renowned Java/Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) experts from Sun Microsystems. Joining JackBe as Chief Technology Officer is John Crupi, a Sun Distinguished Engineer and former CTO of Sun's Enterprise Web Services Global Practice. Deepak Alur, a Sun Principal Engineer who led Sun's SOA initiatives is JackBe's new VP of Engineering, while Dan Malks, also a Sun Principal Engineer and a leader in SOA initiatives, is the company's new VP of Application Platform.

Alur and Malks will head up a panel session at JavaOne titled "Java(TM) Technology, AJAX, Web 2.0 and SOA," at 11:00 a.m. PT on Thursday, May 18, 2006. The panel, which also includes Dion Hinchliffe, Rod Johnson and Craig McClanahan, will discuss the importance of emerging industry standards in helping ease the rapid adoption of Rich Internet Application within enterprises and across the Web. In keeping with its Web 2.0 theme, Alur and Malks have set up an innovative and collaborative way for attendees and others to participate by submitting and ranking the value of potential panel discussion topics.
