Friday, January 26, 2007; 05:23 AM

Scalix Corporation, the leading provider of Linux and open source-based email, calendaring and messaging for enterprises, today announced its appointment of GT-Enterprises, Indias leading distributor of Linux-related products, as a Scalix Master Distributor. Scalix also signed agreements with six new value added resellers (VARs) across India, all who have extensive Linux and messaging expertise.

As a Master Distributor, GT-Enterprises is the sole distributor in India for all of Scalixs award-winning messaging products. GT-Enterprises will sell Scalix products directly.

The new VAR partners were carefully selected to assure that customers in all major business markets of India have a local provider of Scalix product, support and services. Scalix VAR partners in India include Chabria Infotech in Calcuta, Keen & Able in New Delhi, Pentagon in Mumbai, Rrap in Bangalore, Shree Infotech in Pune, and UX Group in Vijayawada.

India is one of the worlds fastest growing markets for IT products, and Indian companies are increasingly turning to Linux for mission-critical enterprise applications that need to have the highest availability, said Glenn Winokur, Scalixs CEO. We are confident that in cooperation with GT-Enterprises we can replicate the success weve had bringing enterprise-class messaging to customers in the United States and Europe.

Given GTE's expertise in open source operating systems and the demand in our customer base for Linux-based messaging products, the Scalix products are extremely critical and relevant to our market. We are indeed delighted with this opportunity to partner with Scalix and excited about the long-term potential this partnership will bring to our respective organizations and to our customers, said GTE, CEO U.M. Taranath.

Scalix has reached another milestone in commercial customers, with over 500 corporate customers who have migrated from proprietary mail systems such as Exchange, Lotus Notes and Groupwise to Scalix Collaboration Platform. Downloads of the companys popular Community Edition have surpassed 90,000, and their active community forum now has over 4,500 members. Recently, the company announced integration of its messaging platform with Sugar CRMs customer relationship management system using multiple versions of Outlook.

Enterprises have deployed the Scalix Enterprise Edition and Small Business Edition in over 55 countries. Scalix recently expanded its global reach with the establishment of a Japanese office. Expansion into India further demonstrates Scalixs commitment to providing organizations around the world with a robust, field-proven open source alternative to the high cost of proprietary messaging and collaboration.

The Scalix messaging product has been widely recognized for offering innovations such as an AJAX-based web client, transparent, full-function Outlook compatibility and a rich web services platform, while at the same time meeting very real customer needs for reliability, robustness, and lower cost of ownership. Scalix recently began releasing the source code for Scalix Collaboration Platform, the base code for all Scalix product editions: Enterprise Edition, Small Business Edition, and Community Edition. This allows the Scalix messaging product to be ported to any platform and to be extended, localized, and customized.
