Commercial open source document
management system KnowledgeTree has released a technology preview of its upcoming
3.3 version demonstrating significant user interface enhancements that improve on the product's ease of use and simplicity.

A new AJAX-based dashboard, new user interface layout, improved forms
handling, and a powerful new Workflow Wizard, are amongst the
enhancements that ship with the KnowledgeTree 3.3 Technology Preview.
Workflow development, traditionally a complex administrator task, is
made more accessible to users not experienced in process design.
"KnowledgeTree's ease of use and simplicity are continually identified
by our customers and the open source community as one of the product's
greatest strengths. With KnowledgeTree's new AJAX-based dashboard,
improved forms handling and other major usability enhancements we want
to continue making document management as easy as possible," says
Daniel Chalef of KnowledgeTree developers Jam Warehouse.
The new version also ships with improvements to the KnowledgeTree
authentication scheme, allowing users to be created on first log in
from authentication sources such as LDAP directory servers.
All of these enhancements are available in KnowledgeTree Open Source
Edition, providing KnowledgeTree community developers with powerful new
AJAX-based portlet, forms management and authentication options.
KnowledgeTree, built on the popular open source LAMP (Apache/MySQL/PHP)
stack, has been downloaded more than 230,000 times to date. It is being
used by Fortune 500 companies, community organizations, local and state
governments and educational and scientific institutions around the
world.
The application is available in three additions: KnowledgeTree
Enterprise, KnowledgeTree SMB and KnowledgeTree Open Source. The
commercial editions provide all the functionality of the Open Source
edition and offer additional functionality including a WebDAV
Integration Server and Client Tools for Windows, providing a familiar
Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office interface into the document
repository and direct-to-repository scanning capability.
