TechMeridian, provider of web management tools for
business users, will launch its website management service, Tuplix in the fall of
2006. Tech Meridian said the new service
will enable non-technical users to edit the content of any website –
new or existing, without installing software or moving the site to a
new hosting provider.

Tuplix aims to ease site maintenance tasks. Today,
designers are usually responsible for making ongoing content edits to
their clients' websites after the sites launch. Keeping up with
constant edits often becomes a hassle for designers, and more often
than not their clients wish to make edits on their own, but are unable
to. "With all the talk of Web 2.0, businesses are finally ready for
this kind of tool," says Michal Lenz, President of Echo Alley Inc., an
Information Architecture company in Vancouver, WA. "To date, the only
way I can provide web editing capabilities for a custom business
website is to hire a programmer to implement a custom software tool."
With Tuplix, designers will be able to hand off
the editing responsibilities directly to their clients through Tuplix.
And since designers will be able to tightly control what areas of the
website can be edited, they need not worry that their clients might
accidentally modify the overall design.
Tuplix will work with existing websites. By making a "five second" change
to any existing web page, content within that page will become editable
inside Tuplix.
Since Tuplix will run as a web-based service, customers will be able to
make edits from anywhere and will not need to install any software. It
will be available as a monthly service with hosted and remote hosting
options.
Ease of use is a top priority. The learning curve for a new user will
be under five minutes. Users will make content edits on the web page
itself, instead of going to a separate page. Utilizing web 2.0
technologies like Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) and DHTML, Tuplix will offer the flexibility of
a web-based application with functionality found in desktop software.
Tuplix is built on a PHP5 code framework and the industry leading open
source database, PostgreSQL.
Whereas most web management tools that cater to non-technical users
require the use of stock “cookie cutter” design templates, Tuplix works
with any website design. A stock template does not work for the
majority of business websites. Generally, businesses hire web graphic
designers to build websites that match the look and feel of their
marketing collateral. All of these custom designs will work inside of
Tuplix. Any web component can be included in the design including
Javascript, DHTML, and Flash.
TechMeridian envisions marketing the Tuplix service primarily to web
graphic designers who will turn around and offer the service to their
business clients. Private beta testing of Tuplix i expected to commence shortly.
