UK based software company BOX UK unveiled a simple yet powerful tool for webmasters, called Clickdensity (www.clickdensity.com). Using JavaScript, it tracks visitor behaviour on a website over a period of time to create good-looking and easy-to-understand vizualizations of mouse cursor activity.

From the Clickdensity website: "[The service] records the position of every click on a page, building up a virtual heat map of visitor activity. It also provides user behaviour analysis, segmentation and tracking. Together with a host of other functionality, clickdensity will transform your approach to usability and information architecture."

The service's value to webmasters is evident: Clickdensity illustrates exactly  what the website visitors do on a website. Armed with that knowledge, web designers will be able to improve the layout of a website, or tweak its content to improve usability.

The service is activated by inserting a small portion of JavaScript code in the source of webpages.  When the site is live and the webmaster has registered, the click data is automatically sent to Clickdensity servers that generate the activity maps.  It works with websites of various resolutions, either with traditional or secure SSL connections, and over varying periods of time and number of clicks.

Clickdensity offers a free 30-day trial, the paid service is £50 to £200 per month (approx. $90-$370).
