Backbase Announces Joint AJAX Project with Nokia

Backbase, providers of a popular AJAX framework, announced on their blog that they have entered a multi-year partnership with communications heavyweight Nokia in order to bring the AJAX revolution to mobile phones.


"In 5 to 10 year consumers are expected to browse the Internet increasingly via mobile devices, and less often via desktop PCs," the announcement stated.  "Mobile AJAX can significantly increase the user experience of mobile web applications, but there are still several areas that need need further research."

Backbase said that Nokia had already emebedded a fully-featured web browser in some of their device, but encoutered usability obstacles like incomplete JavaScript implementations and small screen sizes.  Backbase's expertise in AJAX development will be used in the joint research project to improve the mobile web browsing experience.  The company is currently collaborating  with important internet outfits like Mozilla and Opera.
