Chicago.com, Inc. announced the relaunch of Chicago.com and version 3.0 of its Web site. Chicago.com 3.0 now offers users an improved interface and increased functionality.

The first feature of the site visitors will notice is the clean look and radically redesigned layout that allows for simplified site navigation. Visitors will also notice the addition of hundreds of pages on Chicago events, neighborhoods, restaurants, parks, shopping and other city specialties.

“By utilizing more advanced interface technologies like Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) and DHTML, Chicago.com is now better able to serve both of our core audience groups -- tourists and local residents -- in a much more effective manner,” said Chicago.com CEO Josh Metnick.

Chicago.com is also home to a comprehensive events calendar for the Windy City.  Registered users have the ability to add their own events to the calendar, post reviews and photos and communicate with other users.

The Chicago attractions guide offers information on all of Chicago’s best-loved landmarks, significant cultural venues and must-attend happenings. A fun site section at http://beer.chicago.com uses mapping technology to allow users to find bars, clubs and pubs within a specific geographic area and create a bar crawl complete with online invitations for friends to join.

Chicago.com visitors are still able to book a hotel room at one of the hundreds of hotels throughout Chicagoland, reserve spots for Chicago tours, buy hard-to-get tickets for the biggest concerts, theater performances and sporting events, search real estate opportunities via the MLS, find restaurants for a special night out, search through a local directory for every Chicago business, read the latest breaking news and more.

Chicago.com, Inc. said the website has already shown increases in site traffic, page views and product sales.

Launched in July 2003, Chicago.com, Inc. was created with the goal of becoming a leading online resource for the 10 million people living in Chicagoland and the 31 million who visit the Chicago area each year.
