eBusiness Applications Provides AJAX Spreadsheet Functionality with EBA Grid Version 3

eBusiness Applications, Inc., provider of AJAX-based enterprise software components, released EBA Grid Version 3, a cross-platform AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) web user-interface component that can be used to create dynamic Spreadsheet-like interfaces inside a web application. eBusiness Applications’ software brings the interactivity of desktop software to web-based applications.

eBusiness Applications is furthering its support of AJAX-based component solutions with new features and enhanced support for Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers.

“Our focus for this release is to propel the interest in AJAX by end-users, which is a departure from the developer-centric approach to Ajax component design,” said Dave Johnson, CTO of eBusiness Applications. “We’re doing this by providing a richer user experience than other Ajax-based frameworks coming from the open source and commercial sectors. Grid Version 3 looks, feels, and behaves like a piece of desktop software not a typical web application.”

According to eBusiness Applications, components from EBA go beyond what developers are able to achieve with open-source AJAX frameworks like Dojo, Prototype, and DWR. Grid V3 is targeted at ASP and PHP developers and provides an API that allows software developers to integrate Grid with an existing web application.



EBA Grid V3 introduces the following features:

* AJAX Databinding – Connect EBA Grid V3 to any table, database (including MySQL, SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, etc), even generated datasets.
* AJAX Sorting – Sort data in ascending/descending order by clicking on column header.
* Live Scrolling – Scroll through massive datasets seamlessly in a browser without performance impacts.
* Copy & Paste into Excel – Copy and paste grid data between Excel or between different grids.
* In-place cell editing – Use built-in editors like: Auto-Complete, Textbox, Checkbox, and Listbox to edit cells of data as you would in Excel.
* Auto-Save – Automatically save user-entry changes back to database in real-time (no postbacks).
* Configurable Toolbar – Place shortcut buttons on the toolbar for easy access. Even has free float or docking abilities.
* Master-Detail presentation – Show drill-down information in another table.
* Keyboard Navigation – Control navigation by using keyboard and Hot Keys.
* Freeze & Resize columns – Client-side column resizing and configurable column freezing.
* Browser support - Full Firefox, Camino, Netscape and Internet Explorer Support.
* Platform support – Classic ASP and PHP natively supported\
