Glasgow-based web hosting and development company Liveaps will launch an Ajax-powered Web page design tool, geared towards the general public.  Limited testing of the service, named Eportal, will begin in late June.

The motto of Eportal is "Web design for ages 9 to 94."   The online drag-'n-drop WYSIWYG editor was created with the idea of allowing everyone to create a webpage by using ready-made objects.

The basic package, which comes for free, allows the user to create five pages with Eportal.  Users also get 50 MB and unlimited traffic. Objects allowed for inclusion are images, multimedia files (.wma, .wmv, .swf), text boxes, hyperlinks, and links to download files.

Upgraded packages allow the inclusion of code in the website, as well as boosting the number of pages and amount of allotted webspace.  Blogs and basic CRM functionality are also part of  the paid subscription offer.

Eportal is built on top of IIS servers with MySQL databases, using Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML).
