The ISP division of Tokyo-based Fusion Network
Services Corporation, FUSION GOL, has entered into a business
collaboration agreement for research and development with StartForce,
Inc., as the exclusive licensed reseller in Japan providing development
support, application enhancement, and sales and marketing.
In addition, FUSION GOL implemented a trial Alpha of the
StartForce web-based desktop system - a Web 2.0 based
application developed by StartForce, Inc. It is built on the
latest AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) technologies, realizing
the concept of a ''web-based desktop.''
The Japanese alpha release not only includes the basic features of
a personal computer operating system (document creation and image
viewing), but also comes equipped with services such as file
storage, file sharing, and instant messaging capabilities.
For end users, StartForce is a ''Broadband Desktop'' with a growing
collection of Web 2.0 applications accessible from anywhere, complete with a
browser and an Internet connection. For developers, StartForce is a Web
2.0 platform for development and distribution of Web 2.0 applications.
For ISPs, StartForce enables rich, productive, and differentiated
broadband services for subscribers. For PC makers, StartForce creates
new a ''software as service'' business model for personal computers.
