ResponseMX is a development platform for rich internet applications that include sophisticated capabilities such as dynamically generated mapping. It uses a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). ResponseMX is developed by UK-based company Dotted Eyes.

The platform is supplied with sample applications that are designed for simple configuration. These illustrate how a wokflow of Actions can be constructed, using the Struts framework, in order to create and display dynamic content in a graphical way.

The simplest of the sample applications supplied is called RMX Lite.

Its purpose is to include dynamic maps in existing web pages very quickly and easily by adding a little HTML (Hyper-Text Mark-up Language). It uses buttons to adjust the map view, rather than the tools found in the other sample applications which switch between modes of interaction.

There are versions to demonstrate how ResponseMX clients can use either plain HTML, AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) or two alternative methods of incorporating Macromedia Flash.

The HTML and AJAX versions require a significant amount of mark-up language for the map display. The Flash versions require very little mark-up, which makes it particularly simple to insert a site-centred map into amy web page.
