A new web application has put the AJAX technology to a new use: recording browser activity and then making it available for a replay.  Each recorded session can be viewed through an online playback tool; as long as the user knows the tape ID or has a link, she can view a recorded session over and over again. The TapeFailure application can prove to be of use to both testers and people who want to share browse sessions with friends.

TapeFailureTapeFailure (www.tapefailure.com) sports a simple and effective interface, drawing inspiration from the magnetic tapes of old (remember those?).  When the user selects the "record" option, TapeFailure records everything that takes place into a page-embedded browser.  After saving the session and receiving a unique ID number, the user can replay his browser session or give that ID to anyone , who wants to see it.

On the author's website at www.unwieldy.net there are some more interesting AJAX demostrations.  They range from the ubiquitous AJAX chat to the experimental echoed.org application.
