The new website "Code for a Cause" serves as a meeting place for developers and non-profit organizations who need their help.  People can participate in two ways, by listing themselves as a developer willing to help a project, or as a project in need of developers.  "Code for a Cause" is available at http://codeforacause.ning.com .

Currently there are four active projects.  All of them are envisioned as Web2.0 services, centered on collaboration and shared content.  One of the projects is a  literary archive, another - a directory of charities.

The "Code for a Cause" pages are hosted on the Ning website.  Ning is a free online service for creating, customizing and sharing "Social Web Apps."  Social Apps are basically collaboration platforms: blogs, maps, media sharing etc. Ning has been online since October 2005.
