Introducing ajaxSketch - the Online Drawing Tool
JavaScriptSearch The coterie of online office tools has a new member - the web application ajaxSketch. It is probably the first working attempt to create an online app that has some of the capabilities of vector drawing programs like Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and Inkscape. ajaxSketch supports the popular SVG format, which allows it to inter-operate with industry-standard software. ajaxSketch is available at http://www.ajaxsketch.com/. From there, users choose one of the two existing ajaxSketch servers - one in the USA, and one in Germany. Load times are negligible. AJAX programming techniques allow this web-based software to function smoothly without the waiting around for page uploads that one normally associates with the Internet. The application is limited in options, compared to traditional software, and yet succeeds to relate the feel of a stable, fully-operational drawing program. Users can create a number of pre-formatted figures or draw their own, choose fill and stroke collors, add tekst, addjust opacity, and scale or rotate the created objects. What is most sorely missed is probably the ability to manipulate vertex points.
