Beta of Web-Monitoring Service Mon.itor.us Launched
JavaScriptSearch Sorcio, an open source IT company, announced the launch of their AJAX-powered website and server monitoring service mon.itor.us. The free service's interactive interface allows users to add server performance and availability tests, get uptime reports, and add contacts to get alert notifications. Mon.itor.us is a web-based application with the functionality of traditional desktop software. The user can create personalized "pages", which are listed at the top of the main webpage. Then various modules can be added within these "pages". The modules include tests for user-specified servers, and contacts which allow automated notification via IM or email, when a server goes down. Mon.itor.us tracks not only the uptime of a website, but also its performace. The site provides statistics, to-do lists and news. The user interface is simple and effective, and very reminiscent of other popular online AJAX services. The documentation is well-ordered and conviniently placed on the default frontpage. The free sign-in option lets you save any changes made. The site is available in English, Russian, or German. Here's how mon.itor.us summarizes the benefits it offers to e-business owners, sysadmins, executives and IT managers:
