IBM developerWorks says Drupal up to the task of creating Web 2.0 websites

IBM's developerWorks site published the first in a series of
articled entitled "Using open source software to design, develop, and
deploy a
collaborative Web site." The focus of the new series is using the
popular Content Management System (CMS) Drupal for creating a Web 2.0
site. The
"pilot" article is a comparative review of several modern CMSs and
blogging platforms. It provides the rationale for choosing Drupal over
the other content management platforms. The review compares a number of
open source packages and concludes that Drupal is the best choice for
creating a web standard compliant and secure collaboration websites.
The results of the review are summarized according to several criteria
(See graphic). developerWorks' decision to concentrate on Drupal
for a high-quality web development feature is likely to further boost
the number of Drupal's adopters and community members. Drupal
is a CMS and development framework that by default runs on a standard
LAMP configuration. Its functionalities are easily expanded using a
number of free community-submitted modules. The latest version of
Drupal includes built-in methods for implementing JavaScript/AJAX.
