ealspl.us, an online social shopping community driven by its users and
community, launched today. It offers a distinctive place where user can
share bargains gathered from throughout the internet. dealspl.us
was founded on the principles of Web 2.0 design philosophy, allowing
for tightly integrated content and user interactivity.
dealspl.us was co-founded by Ben Chui, founder and president of
BensBargains.net, a popular bargain shopping
online destination. dealspl.us is one of a number of shopping
communities that allows user find good deals, but it also combines social bookmarking, user level, and non-editorial
control over the posted content.
With dealspl.us, members not only submit the deals, but they decide
what the best deals are to make the front page headlines. An AJAX
interface allows users to rate deals and comments in real-time. This
feature allows one to “Plus“ a deal to
increase its rating. Every time a person clicks the green button on a
deal or comment, it is bookmarked to his or her personal profile.
Additionally, all members have their own dealspl.us user level. This
level represents the cumulative contribution history of each member.
The user level allows users to see who is contributing the best
content, based on a series of factors.
Jupiter Media Metrix reported that online retail sales continue to grow,
despite widespread skepticism over the sector's health. Although the
pace has eased, US online retail sales will still reach $104 billion in
2005 and $130 billion by 2006, up from $34 billion in 2001.
