ajaxXLS: Closing on to the Complete Online Office Suite

It is now possible to open and print XLS spreadsheets without Microsoft Office or OpenOffice.  ajaxXLS.com provides an online application, similar to ajaxWrite and ajaxSketch , which allows viewing XLS documents with a Firefox 1.5 browser.

The ajaxXLS 0.5 viewer is a web-based viewer application with a look and feel similar to Microsoft Excel. With one click you can easily open any .xls file in just a few seconds. The interactivity and responsiveness provided by AJAX programming allows users to enjoy the power and utility of a spreadsheet without the cost of conventional software.

The first release of the ajaxXLS viewer opens spreadsheet files with all the common cell formatting categories such as text style, decimals, currencies, date, and time. ajaxXLS will preserve formulas, backgrounds and borders from the files created in Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice. ajaxXLS is platform independent and can be used with any operating system.

Unlike typical office programs, features will continue to be added to ajaxXLS and made available immediately without the need for complicated reinstallation or reconfiguration of software.
