The market for web designing has never been any spicier. We are only inches away from 2017 and the number of trends that we are looking to get in the new year is plenty. Trends go in and out of style a lot; some make it and most do not.

Still, each of those trends serves as a fine piece that we can add to our designer puzzle.  So without further ado, let’s have a peek of some of the juiciest web design tools and techniques that 2017 can give us.

1. Animation Will Be Ubiquitous

There is no denying the monumental impact that visuals have in the minds of viewers and animation saw a splendid growth in 2016. Following the release of Google Material Design, interface animations made a comeback to the designer’s toolset.

The reason for this is to give interactions a bit more life that is fun and can give designers a way to turn negative experiences into positive ones. Loading screens and 404 animations are the most common examples.

Google Material Design’s subtle shadow effects and the concepts of depth and movement are becoming more popular than those of flat design for designers. Be careful not to abuse them or else it will ruin the user experience.

2. Web Layouts Will Be Designed To Accentuate The Content

Too often designers focus on the design of a product instead of focusing on the meat which is the content. But that has changed drastically over the years ever since the growth of social media.

Designers have now understood that users visit their site mostly for the content, whether it is for tweetstorms or long-reads or the last popular ‘user-generated’ meme. Hence, the main aim of the design is to present content that in not only intuitive but also efficient and delightful.

3. There Will Be Even Better collaboration between designers and developers

Given how much influence a design has in shaping businesses, there is more focus being towards the collaboration between designers and their fellow designers and developer colleagues. Part of the reason for a rise in this is due to the mass production of web and mobile apps.

The platform giants such as Google, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn not only need the assistance of large teams working on several different aspects of the platform, but also better alternatives to help designers stay in the loop, which means better collaboration and communication.

4. There Will Be Bigger implementation of responsive design

An aim to make sites with responsive designs is nothing new for mobile users but there are new methods in the works to make it even more responsive. Businesses have it good with this because it is only one sight that they are paying for and one that effectively delivers content on mobile and desktop devices.

Another reason for brands to use this approach is because of the update in Google’s ranking algorithm which came around in April last year. To put it simply, Google now boosts the ranking of sites which optimizes its content to its mobile devices and users.

5. Flashy Typography Will Rule The Font Family

Big typographies have been around for quite a while, but instead of losing its steam, it continues to pick more of it up along the way. It helps designers show their creativity and ventures off into the unknown. Typography is more of an art, obviously and the best way to master it is to break it just as Picasso once said.

It means that you must imbue yourself with knowledge about typography, start playing with the colors, arrange the spacing, and then combine it with your images and different mixing fonts. If you happen to be a Wix user, then you will find a wide range of fonts to experiment or play with.
